At least 400 Americans and East Africans involved in International  Business
are expected to attend the East Africa2000 trade summit to be held in Atlanta
at the Carter Presidential Center on September 2nd and 3rd. 1999. Sponsored by
UPS, Western Union, World Bank among others, the conference will focus on
Business, Trade and Investement Opportunities in East Africa. American
companies who compete in the East Africa n market will share their experiences
and experts will offer tips on conducting business in the region. East African
companies will be given the opportunity to meet
potential partners and even to source potential alliances with American
business counterparts.

U.S. Exports  to East Africa totalled (USD) $295.7 Million in 1998 and
consisted primarily of planes, heavy machinery, electrical parts ,
agricultural  products and used clothing. Imports from the region totaled $143
Million  according to the US. Department of Commerce.

Ambassodors of all three countries to the United States will be present as
will be the Prime Minsiter of Uganda Hon. Apollo Msibambi who has confirmed
attendance. Other dignitaries and business leaders are expected to attend and
will be confirming attendance shortly.
