Dear Menghestab at al.

Clearly there are ebbs and flows to this list and others. I, for one, am
quite interested to hear from anyone who knows what the status of the
UNDP-government discussion concerning internet connectivity in Malawi is
presently. From the press reports last week it would seem that the conflict
between the government's desire to strike a deal with a U.S commercial
internet provider, and the UNDP and other's (particularly Dr. Paulos
Nyirenda at the University of Malawi) desire to ensure broad, inexpensive
internet access from the outset, are critical issues for other African
states. Does anyone have any thoughts or up to date information on this
situation?

Best,
Sean
