Hi
I'm looking at a list of "Birds, Beasts, Fishes, Reptiles [and] Insects"
compiled in the 1730s by one John Keogh.

He's not at all bad, and many of his terms are still in use, if not always
referring to the same creature.

The Irish he gives for Jay is "Ceilty", and I am completely baffled. Does
anyone have any suggestions as to any Irish word, either Sean or Nua, that
this could be,

And, while I'm on, is there consensus on the etymology of Bainisteoir - a
Manager?

Thanks.

Eoin
