Murphy's only comment (or at least the only ref. to "laíd" in the
"Terms connected with poetry" index) is this:

"A poem is called 'dúan' or 'laíd'; 'dán' 'craft', which originally
was applied to the craft of poetry rather than to a poem, is also
later used commonly to denote a poem."
