The award-winning Swiss novelist and playwright living in Co. Donegal has
published two volumes of poetry, a selection of which will be presented in
German, English and Irish. The author will read with his two translators.
A short reading will be followed by a
RECEPTION and PARTY
to celebrate a centenary of sorts:
This publication is the 100th book to have been translated, edited or
written by Hans-Christian Oeser, best known for his service to contemporary
Irish literature in translation.
His Irish authors, brought out in book form, include Christopher Nolan,
Bernard Mac Laverty, Brendan Behan, Jennifer Johnston, Dónall Mac Amhlaigh,
John Montague, Patrick McCabe, Peig Sayers, Eoin McNamee, John McGahern,
Paul Muldoon, John F. Deane, Dermot Healy, Hugo Hamilton, Jamie O'Neill,
Maeve Brennan, Leland Bardwell, and Claire Keegan.
In addition, he has translated work by another 48 Irish authors published
in German-language newspapers, journals, magazines, and anthologies.
