The EPA have launched their third call for proposals for specific research
projects to assist in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in
Ireland. A list of project titles can be seen below:-

Research projects
*       Development of a Methodology for the Characterisation of Unpolluted
Groundwater
*       Development of a Methodology for the Characterisation of a Karstic
Groundwater Body with Particular Emphasis on the Linkage with Associated
Ecosystems, such as Turlough Ecosystems
*       Hydromorphology of Rivers
*       Identification and Ranking of  Nature Conservation Designated Areas,
where the Status of Water is an Important Factor.
*       An Assessment of the Role of Mathematical Modelling in the
Implementation of the Water Framework Directive in Ireland.
*       Recharge and Groundwater Vulnerability
*       Palaeolimnological Investigation
*       Characterisation of Reference Conditions and Testing of Typology of
Rivers

Fellowships
*       Data Management and GIS to Underpin the Implementation of the Water
Framework Directive in Ireland
*       Pilot River Basin

An information seminar for this call will be held at the EPA Regional
Inspectorate Office, Richview, Clonskeagh Road, Dublin 14 on May 2nd at
2.00pm.
