Yesterday here in Vienna a big demonstration againt racism and
xenophobia and for the decent and humane treatment of foreigners
took place, more than 50.000 people were there. We from Celtic
studies decided to go there as a separate delegation, and since we
found it boring to use German slogans and posters, we decided to
use Celtic languages, one Breton slogan and one Old Irish slogan.
The Breton one was: "Pep mab den - un divroad. Pep divroad - un
mab den." = "Every human - a foreigner. Every foreigner - a
For Old Irish I decided for a triad: "Trí rath Dé: tech lán sláinti, tech
lán gáiriu, tech lán oígethaib" = "Three graces of God: a house full
of health, a house full of laughter, a house full of guests."
These posters (decorated with nice Irish and Pictish ornaments)
attracted some interest. I even gave an interview to CBS.
