This information about the snubbing of Celtic names at birth
registration centers is kind of amazing. One of my ancestors was born in
London in 1847. We honestly have no assurance that his parents registered
his birth. But to know that the Irish or Welsh spelling would have been
discouraged is not very encouraging. Seems that's the way it was.
