>I think he's been at the platypus wine again.
I just finished reading The Last Continent (Terry Pratchett) and there is an interesting theory on how the Platypus came into being, which is far more plausible than it simply evolved that way. Basically, the Creator drew pictures of all the animals and they hopped off the wall into the real world. However, a bunch of wizards wanted to try their hand at it and one tried to draw a bird, without much success. Then another joined in and drew some odd feet on it, and another put another beak on it at the wrong end, and they squabbled so much they never got around to finishing it. So it's sort of a scribble of an animal, really.
[OBCelt: the book has a sort of Mad Max / Priscilla Queen of the Desert theme running through it, Mel Gibson was in Mad Max, and he played a Scot in Braveheart...tenuous I know but it's the only one I could think of]
