Jonathan is right -- the hyphen is the preferred character, per the
proposed recommendation ("Associating stylesheets with XML documents") at:
        http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/PR-xml-stylesheet-19990114

The software (MSIE5 and XT) just hasn't caught up yet.

(Apologies for my earlier post, which had it backwards.)
