I recently got fed up trying to find and manage large
lists of ABC tunes and directories full of too many ABC files,
so I wrote a little app to help with this.
Its almost finished I've just got to tidy it up a bit and test it properly.
When its ready it will be definitely be free - possibly postcard-ware.
The reason I'm posting this is to get any input for desired features along
lines of the general purpose of the program which is a rudimentary ABC file
Here's some of its functionality, someone may have more ideas along these
Oh yeah - sorry MAC users this is a WIN95/98 32bit application.
1 Unix to Dos - convert Unix-based end-of-line to
MSDos CR-LF (carriage return-line feed pairs)
2 Split up large files of ABC's into individual ABC file
3 Rename individual files to the full tune name with the following
remove occurrences of 'the' or move them to the end of the filename.
eg 'The Flowers of Redhill.abc' could become
'Flowers of Redhill.abc'
'Flowers of Redhill, the.abc'
4 Rename individual files to a common name and append the Tune Number
5 Rename individual files to Tune Number (X: Field)
6 Renumber tune files (files with more than one ABC in them) in order
7 Renumber tune files using the book reference number ie B:O'Neill's
would result in that tune being numbered X: 1850
In this case it uses numbers found at the END of the B: field.
8 Join up multiple ABC files into one large file.
9 delete files
Please feel free to offer suggestions or comments.
I'd say off-list but whatever is fine with me.
Thanks for your indulgence.
Best t'yer all.
