The ticket below from JANET OPS details a possible loss of connectivity to
certain European NRNs through Ten-34 beginning midnight tonight.
If this takes place, then our traffic for these networks will back up through
our Cable & Wireless circuit to the U.S., with impeded performance.
The charging issues mentioned below do not apply to HEAnet.

Ticket Summary: Possible loss of direct connectivity to some NRNs
We have been told of a possibility that from midnight tonight, 4 December
JANET may lose access via TEN-34 to the national research networks
of Scandinavia, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. This possibility
arises because of threatened action by one of the providers of TEN-34.
DANTE, who co-ordinates TEN-34 network on behalf of all the European
research networks involved, is trying to resolve the matter, but we
cannot guarantee that they can achieve this.
If access does stop, European traffic between JANET and the European
research networks mentioned above will flow over the transatlantic
links. As this would have a charging implication for institutions,
we are arranging additional monitoring of traffic flows over these
links. It is not our intention that institutions should suffer financially
if this action takes place and, if it proves necessary, we will take
appropriate action to ensure this.
We will keep you updated on the situation as we get more news.
JANET access to those NRNs listed.
