I actually didn't intend to knock Riverdance in my original post. I love
Riverdance. My wife and I were sitting in a hotel room in London in late 1995
when it was shown on TV and I declared to her that I wanted a copy of
it. Within a year it became a fad in the US. It's the pretentious baby boomers
who tried to use it to appear intelligent and artistically savvy that were the
object of my ire. Most of them don't have a clue about Irish history nor a
desire to learn. They just like to pretend that they do to get attention.
