Might I impose on some of the Gaelic speakers on the list for some
assistance in the pronunciation of a word? It comes from McBain's
_Gaelic Etymological Dictionary_ and, at a guess, is probably Scots
Gaelic. The word is: "arrachogaidh" and is given as meaning "the
first hound that scents the deer".
Alas, I have a mis-spent youth among the classics and have
little command of the mother tongue.
"Duty is the sublimest word in our language.
Do your duty in all things. You cannot do
more, you should never wish to do less."
