[I've been procrastinating on this for a couple of months now, but the
current exodus convinced me to post this while there're still readers
on this list :) ]
An inter-active map of the Internet in Africa is available
This map shows all the Internet nodes in Africa at their approximate
location, with the hostnames, and round-trip delays on each link, and
you can zoom in an out from gloabl to very local views.
The interactive map viewer only works with a *recent* java-enabled
browser (Netscape 4.05 or later, or MS-Explorer 4). There is a
non-interactive picture of the map for those who don't have java.
I am posting this to get as much feedback as possible from the people
here, who are the most directly concerned with this data. In particular,
I would appreciate any corrections with regard to the geographic
placement of the nodes, and any ISPs in Africa which I may have missed.
P.S. Let me take this oppty to thank NSRC (Steve Huter's on this list I
think -- thanks!). The initial set of destinations for this experiment
("all" ISPs in Africa) came from the NSRC database.
