Actually, I think Gary was taking me to task for telling people to
"stuff it" rather than agreeing with me. And I then agreed with him.
An altogether agreeable exchange :).
BTW, I have heard them finally (someone gave me a Solas CD as a wedding
present a couple of weeks ago). That's partly why I got annoyed with
the thread--from all of the past name calling that has resulted any time
someone mentioned Solas, I figured I was in for some strange stuff.
But, lo and behold, I didn't hear any horrible musical blasphemies
on that CD. Variations from trad, yes, but nothing that should have
elicited the passionate complaints folks voiced. But then, I never
was able to empathize with the passionate hatreds my former colleagues
in the English department nursed for various contemporary authors.
Just seems like a waste of energy better spent on actually making
and learning music...
