I picked up this tune, John McNeil (spelling?) from a fiddler at our local
session this summer. I like to play it after Timour the Tartar, and based on
comments I got from this list, I've recently began playing Timour the
Tartar/John McNeil after Wind that Shakes the Barley (thanks everyone for
suggesting tunes in some derivative of A to go after Wind...).
Anyway, I haven't found this tune on any of the standard abc sites, and no one
around my parts knows anything about it. It is great fun to play, but a real
finger twister in the A part. It is a good example of a tune that can be used
as A scales practice down on the G and D strings (watch out for that A
arpeggio the last two measures of A, a real killer at speed!).
Anyone know anything about this tune, as well as recommended discography?
