They also recorded a number of songs in Irish, even 35 or more years ago. I
have a copy of "The Irish Songbook" (with 75 of their songs). The Irish-only
songs (Portlairge is one example) have the Irish words, a transliteration of
them as a guide to pronunciation, and a brief note in English explaining what
the song is about (but no English verses).
I saw part of their "reunion" video at a party last year, and it was great. In
the current era of slickness and overproduction, the Clancys and their
acoustic instruments still had me caught up in the music.
