The only psaltery playing I've heard in this context is a concert Bob
Stewart which I taped off the radio in about 1982. It had the sound you
describe and I was quite taken by it back then. It still sounds OK today
and he's a handy cittern player with a good voice as well.

I don't know what ever happened to Bob Stewart and have never heard
anyone mention him since moving to Edinburgh from England 11 years ago,
nor have I come across any recordings by him (although I haven't been
specifically looking). My guess is that if he had a high enough profile
to get on the radio in the early 80s, then he may have been invited by
the Fureys about that time to record with them. Are there any photographs
which might help in this?
All the best,
