Power transition in Marine House caused all routers and ancillary
systems to restart. This was compounded by hardware problems on Moskva
and IOS problems on Heuston.
All access and external circuits down for 4 minutes. Trans-Atlantic
circuit down for 70 minutes. Some circuits suffered brief outages on
Saturday while the affected hardware was routed around and later
Suitable image for Kinnegad was loaded manually, to restore
trans-Atlantic connectivity. Other routers being monitored
and circuits being checked individually.
Sat 14:41 - DCU, DIAS and UCD were switched to spare interfaces
earlier today. Following replacement interface from Lancomms,
DCU and DIAS have been switched back; UCD will be returned early
Monday. Other circuits affected for approx 30 seconds by this
switch were ITnet, DIT, NUI and RCSI.
Heuston has been removed from service and replaced by Andel;
this was brought forward to today as the fastest way to avoid
further outages & problems with Heuston's current IOS version.
Mon 15:00 - Some non-critical problems with Andel's installation are
being investigated. Ticket is being closed; separate ticket will
be opened if further outages are required

Most sites 5 mins approx; international connectivity 70 mins. Additional Notes:
Both logging and ticket systems were partially affected (though still
operational). Tickets 19981017-01 and 02 are duplicates and may be
ignored. Further, the action scheduled for Monday lunchtime in ticket
19981016-01 was preempted by the weekend's actions and may also be
