I am looking for information on the both wireline telephony as well as
wireless telephony costs in Africa for some. Specifically, I would
like to know what the various elements that are required to ensure end to
end (i.e. one telephone handset to another) transmission of signals are,
as well as their typical costs for both conventional wireline as well as
for wireless service.
What wireless technologies have been implemented or are in the pipeline
on the continent?
In the case of wireless local loop, what are the typical costs of the
following elements (a few examples would be welcome)?
1. Remote base station: Antenna, transceiver, switch connecting to a
2. Subscriber end: a) Outside the customer's house - receiver/transmitter
for the connections,
b) Inside - a standard tabletop phone.
I would appreciate any information that any of you may have. Thank you
