I spoke with an older lady, years ago, who had spent summers on (I think)
Beaver Island, in between the two peninsulas of Michigan, in Lake Huron.
There was one Irish family name that was so common that people were called
by their first name, followed by their mother's first name. She remembered
a fiddler (very good, she said) who was called Paddy MaryEllen.
