It still amazes me that folks can be off tempo on music where the beat
is so up front and obvious. The only thing that works is to radically
change the tempo - throw them off the trail as it were - change the
speed (tricky for a band to improvise simultaneously) - or the time
signature complete, e.g. if playing a reel - change to a jig. For
sympathetic (and obviously nonclapping) musicians in the audience - try
corrective action - stomping loudy in tempo - briefly..
