The bouzouki player in our band has copied a lot from Alec Finn's
style, and I can add a few observations:
First of all, it seems like the most common pattern in reels is to
play the strings 1-3-2-3, if we number them from low to high. Now
this is not done so exactly, so now and then he might hit two strings
at a time.
Secondly, to add rhythmic variation, there are often runs on strings
3-2-1 in the tunes, done on a single upstroke of the pick.
I might get Fredrik, our bouzouki player, to write some more about this.
