If you mean the shaggy red cattle with long curving horns, these are
Scottish Highland cattle. Both males and females generally have the horns.
While mostly kept for show today because they grow too slowly to be widely
used in beef production, Highland cattle were an important part of the
economy in times past. Their thick shaggy coat and hardy constitutions made
them ideal animals for the rugged terrain and rough climate of the mountain
