Last week the a government spokesman announced the establishment of a
National Task Force to coordinate national efforts in dealing with the Y2K
bug. This is addition to a Cabinet committee to be chaired by the
Vice-President
The membership of the NTF2000 includes representation from the financial,
utilities, government sectors as well as the Chambers of Commerce and other
agencies. In addition to focussing on Y2K issues, the NTF2000 has also been
mandated, on the basis of the information they will accumulate, to prepare
a national IT policy.
