Mur eil daoine eile 'gam thuigsinn, b'e fealla-dha\ no dha\ a sgri\obh
mi: "ru\n (no rud) mo chridhe"; "de/ do chor (no cho\ir)".

In case anyone's confused by the above, there are puns lurking.

'S docha nach eil mi cho trang 's bu cho\ir dhomh...

'Nuair a bha mi anns an arm (fad dha\ mhi\os gu leth, cha mho/r!)
shuidhicheadh anns an Du\n Ord mi, ach bha ('s tha) cron cna\mha ann an
uileann agam 's bha mi "off duty pending discharge". Thachair seo o
chionn fhada, anns na bliadhnachan "tri-ficheadamh". Uill co-dhiubh a
chionn 's nach robh duty agam bha mi 'nam sgalag anns an orderly room.
Chuireadh am far-ainm "Taibhs" orm a chionn 's gum b'urrainn dhomh
coiseachadh gun fuaim 's bro\gan-comhraig air mo chasan.

A thaobh an uird 's a chorrain, 's docha gun do chaidh mise as mo chiall
cuideachd...ach smaoinich mi fon cruth-corrain de California, agus Baja
mar lamh air.

[When I was stationed at Fort Ord, CA, pending a medical discharge in
the 60's, I acted as a "gofer" in the orderly room. I was given the
nickname "Spook" for my ability to walk silently in combat boots.]

[As for the puns about Fort Ord and CA, "ord" is "hammer" and CA is
sorta sickle-shaped with Baja like a handle on it. No apologies, I'm
not contrite!]

Taibhs
