A reader who is identified as a "software quality consultant" writes
to me privately:

> Word 6 (without the patch) the Find File command does not recognise
> two digit years less than 80.
I glean from this comment that Word 6 (with the patch) and later
versions of this Microsoft word-processing product have no problems.
This is consistent with the view among many experts with whom
I've spoken that those who operate stand-alone PCs with late-model
software and operating systems (Win95 with the latest patches, or
Win98), should have few if any significant problems with their
computers. Is that not the case?
