a while ago we more or less decided that Celtic-L is NOT the place
for sectarian rethorics and for counting up arbitrarily killed
Catholics against equally arbitrarily killed Protestants, as this
makes absolutely no sense and will lead to no result.
The people living in Northern Ireland, and especially the Catholics
amongst them, have shown the world and us in a referendum that an
enormous mayority of them is fed up with this meaningless
slaughtering of mostly innocent people.
So please, stop this senseless arguing which party in this sectarian
war commited more atrocities, as it will lead to no end at all. And
also stop to glorify one side in this conflict as "freedom fighters"
in contrast to the others as "evil terrorists". Whoever kills
absolutely uninvolved civilians, for whatever reason, has no right to
call himself a freedom fighter, as he is nothing but the worst kind
of terrorist. And this is equally true for both sides of the divide
in Northern Ireland. The goal never justifies the means used.
