Which provider are you connected too? The satellite links may be clogged
often, but most SA ISPs channel customer traffic via the multi-meg undersea
cables which have less latency anyway.
I would be interested to know because I don't see your 1Mb/s line shown on the
SA connectivity graph @ greg.csurf.co.za (don't download this huge gif unless
you have plenty of time or bandwidth!!!).
