I'm new to this list, so I hope you'll forgive a "newbie" I'm very much
interested in Celtic culture but lately have been reading about the Picts -
well I got a book yesterday, I plan on reading it this week-end. Anyway, I
was reading a Christian History of Orkney at the website
http://www.orknet.co.uk/fdb/och.htm where the minister writing the history
"Little is known for sure of Orkney's history in the early centuries of the
Christian era. Before the Viking period the islands formed part of the
realm of the Picts, a Celtic people, and - being good farm-land - had
probably been inhabited for several millennia by a sizable community."
It was my understanding that the Picts were not Celts. Does anyone know if
this is not the case?
Thank you in advance (TIA)
