I run FG on MacOS8 fine, but I've had problems with a handfull
of other programs, which brings me to the following:
I've been using computers since the age of 9, and one of the things
I can confidently say is: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
It just plain doesn't make sense to switch to something that
*could* have problems, if what you're using works adequately.
In the features race, even OS's have chosen the way that lead
AWAY from quality. Unless "upgrading" will give you a proven,
concrete and tangible advantage, don't risk it. You can always
have multiple volumes with different OS's, but even that might
be a waste of your time.
As a develpoer and a user I've been stung by upgrades that were
actually downgrades so many times and in such convoluted ways, that
I've developed a will to resist the "latest and greatest" mentality,
and just use the damn tools that I have!
I'm a technophile, whether I like it or not, but I hate gimmicks.
P.S. I'm not anti-Mac: I use a Mac8100, a Pentium (strategically
limited to 200MHz non-PentiumPro, non-MMX, Windows95!) as well as
my rock-solid [although these days pretty slow] Amiga3000.
