Your question is intriguing, but my ignorance outstrips my interest
here. Could you provide a few examples of the use of this suffix in
OI? I came up with two possibilities, but I don't know if either is
what you have in mind:
1. The proposal that IE *-es- + *-tu- -> *-essu-, as in *dor-essu-,
which comes out as "dorus" in OI
2. The OI nominalizing suffix -etu, -atu, which turns the adjective
"u/asal" into "u/aisletu", and so on.
