POST-GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP IN SEAWEED PHYSIOLOGICAL ECOLOGY
A PhD scholarship is available from 1 January 1998 through the Otago
Research Fellowship, University of Otago. The stipend is $12,000 NZ
and tenable for 3 years. Fees are covered for citizens of New
Zealand, Australia, Germany and France (all other nationalities must
acquire their own funding to cover international fees of $15,000 NZ
per annum). Tenure must commence by 1 June 1998.
The project involves investigating the damage and repair of
photosystems and cell membranes of intertidal seaweeds following
dehydration. Applicants should have a knowledge of the ecological and
physiological factors controlling vertical zonation of intertidal
seaweeds, possess good laboratory skills and preferably have
experience with biochemical techniques.
