I have always been surprised that an "expert set" of swash variations for
Bookman and one for alternate characters for Avant Garde Gothic haven't
become mainstays. The two fonts (as type 4/LaserWriter fonts) are
ubiquitous but the alternate reasons for much of their '70s and '80s
popularity are (I happy to say) not anywhere to be seen.
