Among other things, you said:
I have since come along way in my musical sensibilities and affections.
Barde, Silly Wizard, Planxty the Bothies, De Dannan, Chieftans, yadda yadda
as "bands" all provided me with a foundation for the music in my
crypto-yankee-impaired musicial experience. As a uggh "adult" maturing
human male i now find the music to be more tune based and generally dont
care for the performance aspects of the music. I would say that i like to
compare style and approach but for me it comes back to the tune......
... The music remains the preferrences of "public" changes to Altan enables
a higher visibility to Donegal music, Martin Hayes to Clare, Daley to Kerry
its cyclic its market based and its my uniquely american experience. The
music talks to each of us based upon the lives we have lived whether it
being in a Ballygob or Ballydelphia our perspectives are our own as is
this music whether your here there or nowhere.
.. The politics, correctness, social and economic forces which have both
oppressed and nutured the music have little effect upon essence of the tune.
The arrangement, packaging, celtification and pontification have little
effect as well for it is the tune and spirit and joy which come from it and
the heart, emotion, joy, sorrow et al which the tune express through the
player which issssssssssss really cool man.
Sorry for maundering about, must crash now, lovely threads of late........
darn, i gotta go back to lurking damn you Michael Hogan and your evil
Couldn't agree with you more my man. From here in Bally Park I share your
perspective and it really does come down to the tune. Thanks for letting us
stroll with you on your ramble.
On another subject, last week I wrote you for a Copeland update but you didn't
respond. Is that because there's no news or you just forgot?
