I had considered this as an unfortunate interpretation of the
blessing also (a blessing perhaps from someone who thinks that the best
possibility in life involves being stewed all the time), but then determined
that the meaning must be more in the sense of the road's being gentle and
welcoming to your shoe leather. It is interesting to hear that the actual
translation should be "may you succeed on the road."
