Now, Bette, you know perfectly well I was equating it in the "romantic"
sense - as that is what we were discussing with Brian; *romance*. I would
hope your brother doesn't think of you in *that* way, although I am sure
others would ... [: )
Brian reminded Melissa of a nice guy guy who is one of her "best
friends". Not current or ex-lover, for example, just "one of my best
friends". Not "man of my dreams whom I would crawl over broken glass
for", just "one of my best friends".
And Melissa, you said something like "any woman would be glad to have
him", right? If not you, then who is the mythical "any woman"? Now, if
you had said something like, "He is a very nice guy and I couldn't help
but fall madly in love with him the instant we met", I might get a
different feeling from it all.
Most men who are told they are a "nice guy" are soon looking at the
departing back of a woman heading toward a more "exciting" kind of guy. I
know, I've had a lot of women (in the past, OK) tell me, "He was a nice
guy, but ... ."
Spare me the "nice guy" bit. Personally, I'd rather make their toes curl
... [: )
