And this is THE central point in all of this. Most of those "royal"
genealogies are made up as well from at least 1000 AD backwards. It
was very profitable to be king, so not only the genealogists were
less scruplous (I doubt that all modern ones are), but also the
claimants were. If it was necessary, they would have put their
mortal enemy into their ancestry.
