Some time ago Terry McGee asked about people's preferences for keys
on flutes - or not, as the case may be.
One factor that was not mentiond at the time was that a flute will
sound quite different (better) once it has the weight of the keys on
Regarding the flat low D thread, Rockstro gives the standard
fingering and notes that it is 'always too flat'.
Another thing that has been mentioned on this list numerous times is
that flutes/whistles have to be conical for the octaves to be in
tune. This seems to be one of the more enduring myths and I wondered
what the origin was. Probably lost in the mists of the past.
