Since it seems to be confession time, I have one to make as well.
Yesterday I was working in the computer lab when someone complimented me on
my green-and-navy plaid shirt with the tasteful magenta stripe. She asked
what clan's plaid it was (knowing it was a Bennetton design) and I shot
back, it's Clan Ish. ooops! what's the real tartan?
So I think I'd better apply for membership -- you have Ray on the other
side of the Alps, perhaps you'll take a German of part-Norwegian descent
currently residing in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. Let's see,
you've probably already got a Clan Braggart (or is everyone?); I don't know
what other positions may be open, but I'm trying to grow some Clan Woad, if
that would be acceptable.
On another topic entirely, and speaking of weird stories, does anyone
(Ray??) know if there is a connection between the Wally in Catalani's opera
and the Alpine legend of the Geierwally? And how far back does it go?
Your hopeful supplicant for clan membership
