For those of who did not get this, the following is a statement by the
Ethiopian Scientific Society (ESS) on the truly historic and
international conference on Ethiopian telecommunications and telematics
industry, held on July 2nd 1996, at the World Bank in Washington, DC.

The Ethiopian Scientific Society's(ESS) conference on "The Ethiopian
Telecommunications in the Information Age" was successfully held with an
over-capacity crowd on July 2nd 1996 in Washington DC.
Hardcopies of the proceedings were available at the conference. All
listed on the agenda were presented. A captive and interested audience
about 100 people participated in the discussions all day long.

Lishan Adam from PADIS(Ethiopia) was given a Special Recognition Award
the ESS Board of Directors for his tireless and exceptional efforts to
promote electronic connectivity in Ethiopia and in the whole continent
Members of the ESS Internet committee also received certificates of
recognition for their hard work, for making the conference a success and
truly unique occasion where one of the central issues of our time and
relevance to Ethiopia was discussed.
