Greetings all! Time for an introduction:
I m Angela Wing-O Brien, three generations removed from the O Brien family
name by birth and rectifying that with my married (or soon to be so) name.
I hail from all over the USA as I grew up in an aviation family - kinda like
being a military brat but less discipline in the parents. My parents are out
west in the Rocky Mountains and I am here in New Jersey, USA. (How I came
here is for another list another time...) Cultural identity is a difficult
thing to maintain when you are removed from your extended family so I am
learning about my rich family/genealogical heritage as an adult, vs. having
the family about to bore/excite you with it as a child. To be honest I don t
know too much of the geography of Ireland and do not know where/when the
family came to the States from, ( I know that they came through Canada, but
that s it.) I hope to learn more from all of you!
As to the poll RE: Buchannan,
Sharon - I have to agree with you, the proposition of having him in the
Presidential Office is frankly terrifying. If he wins than there is the
probability of there being NO division between Church and State. I also have
to try to have faith in the system of checks and balances... I don t have
that much faith as I am Neo-Pagan too and the fact is that if you aren t
Judeo-Christian in this country you are S.O.L. I have seen (way too closely)
families be torn apart due to religio-prejudice. (is that a word?) The idea
has crossed our minds too on occasion and we have considered New Zealand as
one option. However... I like the idea that someone proposed of getting our
own island in the middle of the ocean, but as I am a Talent Agent, I don t
know how I could stay in work... Hmmmnnnn, maybe I ll take up Metal Smithing
and pound out a Claymore (no easy feat, I know I actually studied this for a
while) or two!
Who gets to hassle a Casting Agent in the morning to get some Extras in the
new Mel Gibson movie being filmed somewhere nearby.
