I saw Braveheart several times and was very moved by it. I am
somewhat familiar with the real story and did recheck with my
history books to determine how great a digression from history
Raw history rarely makes a very good screenplay. It wouldn't have
in this case: Eddie died at the wrong time, etc. Having recently read
some Welsh history, I was still trying to emotionally recover from
what this major jerk did to her. I really enjoyed speculating about
the parentage of his grandson. A clever bit of Celtic wit.
It was good entertainment and a good screenplay. Great scenery too.
I was very pleased to see it nominated.
The English bashing got to be a bit much.
