I need to do some research on the Brehon Laws, and would like to
know any names of books that contain these, any infor?

A sacrfice was not for the punishment of crimes in pre-Christian Ireland.
 It was to send a messanger to the gods to speak in behalf of the people
of the tribe.  Under Brehon law, common during Druidical times and up to
the English coming, crimes were settled by fines and fees, and Brehon
law was a law system of arbitration.  If a person killed another, he or
his family were responsible for paying the worth of the victim for (I
believe) a year.  The more people you killed (outside of war), the more
you paid.  The higher rank a person was you killed, the more you paid.
Also, wealth was cattle, and that's what you might end up paying in.  It
was an effective system and a good discourgement.
