French "boeuf" (-> beef) and Irish "bo/" are related, but not by mutual
influence. They are independently descended from the reconstructed
Indo-European *gwous (= cow, bull, ox). "Boeuf" comes via Latin "bos,
bovis", and "bo/" via Common Celtic *bows.
