Tom, you have just joined an entire band of people who agree with you. Some
of them are lurking on this very board and should start putting their
tuppence in soon. It is the first soundtrack I can remember at which the
opening notes sent a ripple of whispers down the isle: "I want this music and
I want it now!"
It wasn't just that; it should have been up for editing. The portion of the
film in which the chase and the ceili were intercut, and the music which went
behind it were definitely enough to make one's pulse race.
If Tim Roth doesn't get the award he should sue for slander. His was
possibly the best performance I have ever seen, supporting or not, and I'm
not even referring to the use of a sword, but yes, he even wielded a blade in
