i'm sure that the reasons some people are nervous about IRA
discussions on celtic-l are:
1) seems like most irish-anything newsgroups or listservers have
IRA or otherwise political threads running through them.
2) people do get upset about it. and scream. and flame.
however i've seen agruements here over less serious subjects and i think
that celtic politics is certainly part of celtic culture. i have to
agree with some other people, politics would be more interesting than
reading about reincarnation, how the spirts of my forefathers lead to me
things celtic through my genes, and discussing the colour of our hair.

this contraption has been known as a "turkish bombshelter", although i don't
know why. a slam on the turks, i suppose. i remember my first one in
france as well, although my feet escaped intact. the worst is that i had
to pay two fancs to use it.
