>I don't believe "Baronial" refers to size. Baronial Ivory, for example, is
>paper stock manufactured in various weights and comprising many sizes of
>both paper and envelopes. Envelope size is defined by codes, such as A-2
>(approx 5 3/4" x 4 1/4").
Baronial is a style of envelope, not a specific size. Envelopes used for
invitations, announcements, which are shorter rectangles with a deep pointed
flap are considered Baronial as opposed to long rectangle, short flap ones like
the #10 business envelope.
As for Excelsior, since this is from a novel whose author is alive ask him,
he will know.
