The Institute for International Research (IIR) is seeking applications
for a 19-month replacement position of a long-term technical advisor in
the Basic Education Support (BES) Project of the Ministry of Basic
Education and Culture (MBEC), Namibia, sponsored by the United States
Agency for International Development (USAID).
The position title is Language Specialist in Syllabus Design and Materials
The advisor's major responsibility is to work with local language
specialists, other project advisors and MBEC staff on the implementation
of new syllabi for Namibian languages.
1) a minimum of an MA or equivalent qualification in languages, a teaching
qualification and a further qualification in a relevant specialization,
namely, language development, materials writing, literacy, or early
learning (or a combination of these),
2) at least two years of experience in mother-tongue language teaching
at the lower primary level, and
3) work experience in sub-Saharan Africa.
The position is available immediately.
